Like many in the community, SCGA’s board and staff have been impacted by the fires — our priority is serving the community!
A huge shout out of gratitude to California Growers Association, Hezekiah Allen and Cal Grower’s incredible Regional Council Committee that rallied predawn Monday morning and began developing relief projects, support services and coordinating reports from each impacted region!
One of the most important things you can do to support is to HELP RAISE THE FUNDS TO REBUILD!
We have identified at least 30 farms and 3 manufacturers who have lost everything to these fires, their home, livelihood and the funds to participate in the incredibly expensive endeavor of entering the regulated market. These operators will not have insurance nor bank loans to help them rebuild.
This is a community effort, here’s what you can do:
- DONATE, spread the word and challenge businesses to contribute to our centralized fundraising effort by CalGrowers for all the regions’ fire victims that have lost home and livelihood. 100% of proceeds go directly to the fire victims with no administrative overhead.
Please DONATE HERE and share this link:
- OFFER SERVICES/RESOURCES/HOUSING: People who want to donate goods/services or offer a place to stay for folks who’ve lost their home can submit their offerings by email:
- SPREAD THE WORD: Pass this information along to anyone you know who has been impacted by the fires, from total loss to collateral damage. We will gather reports on the losses and needs from the operators impacted by the fires.

October 15, 2017: SCGA spoke with Tim Ricard, Sonoma County’s Cannabis Program Manager. He indicated that the County has spent the past week and a half with employees working at the emergency response center; the main County Center offices should reopen on Tuesday 10/17.
October 26, 2017: SCGA raised $48,200 in donations by the community at the October Social Mixer!
November 8, 2017: SCGA Board Chair, Tawnie Logan and Board Member, Alexa Wall met with California State Treasurer John Chiang to address the fire relief options available for operators impacted by the fires. While the major hurdle is access to banking in order to receive support services, there is progress being made in finding new avenues for access.
