Sonoma County Industrial Hemp Ordinance
On January 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing of a proposed ordinance amending Chapter 1 (General Provisions), Chapter 26 (Zoning Code), and Chapter 37 (Industrial Hemp Ordinance).
A moratorium on the cultivation of industrial hemp was established by this Board on April 2, 2019, which will sunset on April 30, 2020. The Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures developed a proposed ordinance that encompasses zoning restrictions on industrial hemp, enforcement provision to prevent illegal cannabis cultivation, and measures to ensure crop compatibility by managing pollen dispersal.
This follows a November 21, 2019 meeting at the Sonoma County Planning Commission that included recommendations for zoning restrictions. The Planning Commission voted to recommend the approval of all of the recommended amendments to Chapter 26 of the Sonoma County Code as set forth in the report.
The public hearing will take place at the following location:
Sonoma County Administration Building
575 Administration Drive, Room 102A
Santa Rosa, CA 95403
